I'm NOT that kind of girl!

This message is for my male's friends wives and girlfriends.

I'm a care-free person. Means I like to do what I wanna do, without anyone blocking my way and I LOOOVEEE being SINGLE. Having said that (even thought it not enough to describe the WHOLE me), I also like to hang out with my friends, especially my old high-school friends, whose been long time no see. As I mostly living far a way from my family, these friends, especially males, were my some sort of 'helper' in my life. Especially things that guys usually knows like cars or electrical or hardware or something. Besides, I can't eat lunch alone (a practice I learnt from IPD) and I easily get bored when there is no TV or internet. So ladies, if I called your husband or boyfriend to hang out or need some help, please pleaseeeeee do not be jealous of me. I'm just one of your husband/boyfriend's friends, regular friends. If your husband/boyfriend was my school-mates, then DO NOT BE JEALOUS! Our batch was soooo small, around 50, and we knows what happen to everyone...we just one of high-school friends whose have a VERY CLOSE BOND!

However, if you guyz still worried, here a suggestion for you. Meet these guys and ask them to marry me. In order
  1. Takuya Kimura
  2. Andy Lau
  3. Kevin Rose and
  4. Shawn Yue
Till then, HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone and....I'm just not that kindda girl!

Cheers,

ASSE

PTD Assessment (PAC) Dec 2008

YES, I finally pass the PTD exam after 4th try. When the assessment letter came, I was surprised coz this time it’s only 1 day assessment. Past PAC usually done in 2/3 days. Well I though maybe that’s a good thing, so we don’t need to run the ‘2.4 km’. Unfortunately that was not the case. PTD post this time will be offered as a contract basis, not permanent one, even you pass PAC and interview with a flying colour. You will only be offered permanent post after go through a few more evaluation, test and 6 month of Diploma Pengurusan Awam (DPA, I think???). They really make the PTD harder-to-get post, which is reasonable consider the pay and privileges the post offer.

Okay, now it’s the time for me to enlighten you with my miserable experience at PAC day. It has 3 activities all in a day. Activity 1 is a conversation or discussion in group in English. The topic for that day was about National Service, it is relevance or not? I’m good at speaking, I admit it. Because I was a tutor for 3 years and basically what I do was talk and teach every day. So I proudly admit that I spoke like a pro, except that I talked bullshit most of time that day. What I mean by bullshit is….BULLSHIT!!! I spoke and talked and talked more but no point or sense of direction what so ever. I felt like a loser but what the hell, you want me to talk, and I talk. But I do give 1 excellent point, I think...for me la...

Activity 2 also involve more talking, it’s a debate in Malay, and the title was “Working experience is more important than academic qualification”. During this session that I realize that my malay is sucked…big time! I’m a bumi, I speak malay all the time, but when it come down to proper Malay language, I failed. I still talked during the debate but with unpleasant words and even the evaluator translate some of the words for me. Seriously, I’m a shame to be Malaysian.

Now, the final activity, activity 3 is the endurance test. I admit, I’m not physically fit. Even if they still test us with the “2.4 km” run, I’m pretty sure I’m not gonna pass that. But with only a day PAC, they changed the run to 5 endurance exercise which I cannot recall the name of each exercise. Out of 5 exercise, I give up 1 and barely do the other 2.

So I'm not confident I'm going through to next round (the interview). But what the hell, at least I'd tried and had one-unforgettable experience. BTW, I'm at the airport right now, going to JB and bravely start a 'new life' there. I know maybe some of you thought I'm a fool for going through this 'master' plan, instead of staying and accept the DG41 offer. But I really want to challenge myself as I confident with myself and I can offer more to THE WORLD....cheh....

Ciao, good luck to me!!!

Generation Gap

I have 3 younger sisters and a younger brother who are still teenager. I remember back when I was in my teens, things that I like; music that I love, movies that I like and what hot and what’s not. My teens years was in the 90s, where boyband were really IN during that time; BSB, N-Sync and bunch others boyband from UK which I’m not really a FAN of. Seriously, I’m NOT INTO boyband, but you know how high school was, when everybody talks about it, praise them like GOD, you kidda…sometime…interested to know THEM. But I’m not really a fan, I just knew their songs, knew the band’s name, that’s it! I was however, into underground music at that time. My circles of friends lend me a tape of Butterfinger, OAG and even the local band that recorded their performance live (I know this because of the poor sound quality). I was also into Hong Kong movies and dramas. I don’t know why, I watch them like since...I can’t remember…maybe since TV3 is available in Sabah. Because I remember every weekday at 6pm, I was in front of TV watching TVB dramas. Or maybe before that, coz I also remember watching it at TV2, but I can’t really understand at that time what happening.

Anyway, teenagers today were more advance than us, and a lot cooler too. They have internet, computers and handphone since…I don’t know, birth! And their more expose to the outside world via TV, ehm..ASTRO. As I observe my sisters and brother, they also easily can get what they want; mainly because my parent can afford it today, and they have a lot of choices out there, they can do what the hell they want to do!

Okay, move on to the things that they like. I wonder this A LOT; what’s up with Miley thing??? I mean really, why she suddenly BIG. It turn out my sisters were crazy about her, I still don’t get it why but now I understood why she is a big star. They are also CRAZY about High School Musical; I mean HSM is their all-time fave movies trilogy. Mine was Lord of The Ring trilogy and my big bro maybe Godfather (I don’t know, I just guess). See…its generation gap thing. I believe it soon change once they enter college and university, and to the ‘young adult’ world.

What else they like…oh…my young brother love shuffle(???). At first I was confused what the hell is shuffle, all I know about shuffle is something you click to make the songs in your MP3 to go random. Hahahaha…I know it’s not funny, it’s pathetic actually to finally realize I’m no longer hip, young and dangerous (hint: HK movie). Okay, it basically a form of dancing but mainly using feet to moves. I think saw it before from one of my student assignment, but I believe you can search it at YouTube. I can’t put any link or reference coz I wrote this offline; I don’t have internet right now, why?? I live in a far far land where there is no 3G, or phone line. I can only use dial-up or GPRS but that is SUPER SLoooooW.

I think I stop now, it’s maghrib already and I running off ideas, Till next time…ciao for now.

Tip of Borneo

I don't know why I waited this long to go here. Maybe because I'm Sabahan, so I don't really paying attention what we have on our own backyard. When I realize I'll be leaving Sabah SOON, I know I have to fuel-up my adventurous side, and start traveling and visiting the best places we have here.

As you guyz read and saw in my blog lately, I've been going all out for couple of weeks now. Involving my self with student's project so I can have 'free' and cheap holiday, visiting Manukan Island with my x-housemate from KL (as pic from below post), and last Saturday, I pack-up my housemates and drove them to the heaven on earth, to the end of Borneo, the Tip of Borneo or we Sabahan called it Tangjung Simpang Mengayau.

Simpang Mengayau located in Kudat, the northern part of Sabah. It takes about 3 hours drive from Kota Kinabalu, less if you drive faster than me. Along the way to Kudat, you will see a lot of beautiful scenery of paddy fields, and even Mount Kinabalu as the background! Unfortunately because I was driving, I can't capture that beautiful moment. Mount Kinabalu actually can be seen aroung Kota Kinabalu, as long as the weather is clear. I saw it while on the boat ride to Manukan island 2 weeks ago.

My first thought when we arrive there was this place is perfect for suicide. I hope no one actually do THAT(simpang malaikat 44), and my thought was weird sometime...or any other time. Anyway, the reason I thought that coz the tip is actually a dangerous place. The wave were strong, coming from both South China sea and the Sulu, and there are many hard big rocks surrounding the area.

The best part for me was not the Tip itself, but the beach. It actually dangerous to swim there as the wave were very strong, especially during this time of the year, the rainy season. But you can resist to put your feet under the water as the sea looks green and the white sandy beaches look sparkling from afar. With no one actually on the beaches that day make it like 'you own' the beach! However, because we didn't brought extra clothes, plus hungry and my housemates have to work at 4pm that day, we didn't spend much time on the beach. By 12, we go to Kudat town and eat lunch before we journey back home. That short little time we have was amazing, and that was I hoping to put on my mind FOREVER.

Next stop, or rather next "GOAL" (coz I'm not sure if I have the "money" to go there) is SIPADAN!!! I know, I'm tawaurian, it basically like an hour from Tawau but I never go there! This time I wanna make it happen. GOOD LUCK TO ME!

Excuses

I don't know why I'm writing this, maybe because I'm sick of the excuses that I've seen or heard these days. Actually, these are not a new trend or new kind of excuses/word they use. These actually what most people usually give if they want to explain or trying to defend themselves.

First case, the Norman scandal. Frankly when my friends talk about this I was clueless...who THE HELL is Norman Hakim??? I have a disease of forgetting people's name, not just someone whose I didn't seen for a long time, even when I have their faces in my head or they stand in front of me, I do sometime can't recalled their names. Funny isn't... Plus the fact that I don't follow local Malaysian entertainment industry make the matter worse. Of course I know who's he now, its all over the internet!

What amazed me about this scandalous event is the reply he was giving, according to this article, it sooo 'scripted' and most well-known excuses...EVER! What am I talking about???

"Kalau sudah ditakdirkan tuhan saya kahwin lagi, tiada apa lagi yang dapat saya lakukan."
(If it my fated to marry again, there's nothing I can do)

Okay, maybe that's not the exact quote, but it was close. Why ppl always gave 'fated', 'God willing' as an excuse. Maybe that what God plan for you, but the road you choose to get there is all yours, isn't??? I don't want to be bitchy or busybody about this, but pls la..takde ayat lain ke???

Next case is so classic, I wanna throw up just hearing about it. I heard this while watching Bernama TV. It about how Yusry-the director commented on the CGI that they use in Cicakman2.

"Jangan banding filem kita dengan filem luar, budget kita tak banyak jika dibandingkan dengan Hollywood"
(Don't compare our film to the other country, our budget is very limited and small compare to Hollywood)

If that the case, than why you want to make 'Hollywood' style film? Why not just use the budget wisely and produce small budget picture with high quality storyline, actors, sound dubbing and so on...(actually I'm not good with film concept) and put more creativity rather than special effect. I've seen many low budget film from outside, and most of them were VERY GOOD. Sometime because of the budget constraint, they use they own creativity to replace or change the way the shoot the film.

Maybe I'm not qualify to comment about our film industry or Malaysian entertainment at all. I can't remember the last time I watch Malay movie (maybe it was Buli...ehm..), not just in cinema, I don't watch it on TV a well. Maybe I should... I'd tried once, during raya, watching I'm not Single coz my sisters love it, but I can only manage to hang on for 10 minute, after that if I'm not mistaken I watched Mythbuster, or maybe CNN...

Camping Adventure Part 2

After the camping trip to Hutan Kawang, I was invited by my dear colleague to another adventure, again another student project to Tambunan Village Resort Centre (TVRC). This time I'm just joining them to have some fun, not as substitute supervisor.

Our journey from KK takes about an hour and a half; maybe less if I drove a little bit faster. TVRC is quit popular among Sabahan, even though this is the first time I heard about it. Well, I'm not the 'traveler' type; even though I LOVE traveling....it just I don't have the MONEY! That's why I happily accepted my friend proposal to joined them....it CHEAP!

This place is not 5 stars, maybe not even 3 star, but if you LOVE nature and want to experience 'kampung' life, than TVRC is your choice. The chalets here are all made from bamboo, as what Tambunan is all about, bamboo district. Because this is a student project, we don't have much money to spend, so our chalet are so 'low' budget one. But we still can sleep in it(maybe not that comfortable with the sound of the bed everytime I switch position, but still sleepable) and even have a few games inside the chalet, with all 25 person inside at one time!

Oh, ya! Another interesting thing I found amusing is the fish pond. Why you say? Because the fishes there were all obese and have hypertension. This fact came from one of the employee there, coz obviously they were feed everyday! However, no one can catch or eat it. I was like imagining them in my dinner table....I'm sorry these fishes look so delicious...don't you think so???

Like my last adventure, we also have jungle tracking (or trekking???). I don't why they must include jungle tracking, maybe because this is Environmental Management (duhh!) subject...but man, I gotta said enough with the jungle tracking terminology in your tentative! Its not jungle tracking, it's HILL HIKING! A very LONG, HIGH and TIRED one! Still Kawang (post below, my 1st camping adventure) is the winner. This hiking is still a tough one, because of the 'new' trail that the guide made, and the narrow trail to the top and down. Leeches is a MUST with Malaysian jungle, so almost everyone got one. Of course I got one on my foot sucking my blood until it got ‘fat’ and two inside my shoe, thank god they didn’t ‘bite’ me. Actually, you don’t felt anything when the leech bites, so I don’t know why we all scared of them….Ehm…

After the 'hiking' and leeches...and stuff, we walk through this beautiful paddy field to go back to the resort. My tired-ness officially gone like a wind seeing this. When you rotate 360, all that you see is 'greeeeen' (hint:JPOP). The 'leeches' was soooo worth it!

The next day, we make a quick stop to Mahua Waterfall- about 30 minute from TVRC before we end our trip. I don't really see many waterfall in my life, but oh dear God...this is so HEAVEN! I don't know how to put it... but this is the best so far. My friend told me earlier that the waterfall is not that high and don't expect much, so I think it gonna be the same with Kawang's waterfall. I was dead wrong!!! At first, I thought, ehm...maybe I'm not gonna make myself wet, but it all change after seeing that. I was soaking myself in a cold water for 30 minute! Well, not that long...But I have FUN!!!!

ps: This is another post that I wrote a few weeks ago but never finish it. I finally have time after finish all the carry mark!!!Yahoo...time to play GAMES! Oh ya, you can see the rest of the pics in my flickr.

Raya 2008

I know it's kindda late but still I wanna wish everyone "SELAMAT HARI RAYA"!!!

I've been writing this for a while now, but never quit finish it coz of my so called 'busy-ness'! So that's why this RAYA wishes kindda late, ehm...not kindda, it definitely late!

So I keep it sweet and simple...
This time around, I met with most of my schoolmate from high school, and have our own reunion raya 'party'. Well, I don't know about you or my schoolmate, but this group of 'old friends' were THE BEST!. They never judge you or look down on you if you just doing 'simple' things in life, if u know what I mean...

My school is very small, with less than 200 students (the whole school, from form 1-5). Our batch maybe around 50, so we kindda close. Every news and gossips about us will travel instantly, and we try to help everyone whose need it.

I hope we can still keep in touch FOREVER, and have our reunion every year. I have fun seeing you guyz! Oh BTW, we're from SMSLD, SEKOLAH MENANGAH SAINS LAHAD DATU, aka SBPLD, class of 93-98.

Camping Adventure

Last weekend, I was with a group of students to Hutan Lipur Kawang, Papar as part of their environment management’s project. Actually, I’m not the ‘supervisor’ (just helping my colleague who’s can’t make it) and I’d had never joined this kind of student’s project before, so its kindda ‘new’ experience for me, but a pleasant one.

First thing to do after arrived, taking picture!
But sadly, the background view is not the 'prettiest' one. My student told me later, that that part of the hills had been sold to the palm oil company, so now they 'clean-up' the hill to plant the palm trees.

This is a management office aka our 'tent' for the night... We are so lucky to get a permission to use the place, coz the toilets were very very clean! Because I'm their 'guru pemerhati' (like supervisor la...), I got to slept inside a room but still fill with students stuff, bags and all. All the students have to slept in the hallway...

Look at our kitchen...all the cooking essentials were provided! Of course, that girl is part of our 'kitchen crew'. There is a small waterfall infront of the office. Even it small, I mean it's not that high, but the sound of water dropping through the rock was AMAZING! Its so refreshing that all of us wake up early even though we were so tired from the 'hiking' (read below) and games we played the night before.

One of the activity we do there is 'jungle tracking'. I thought we just go to the jungle and walk through the trees, and see the bugs and leeches (in fact we saw a lot of them, and make all the girls screams like kindergarden kids) and visit a bat’s cave (as pix above). This 'jungle tracking' turn out to be a hike to the top of the hill. OMG! It took us 2 hours to go up, and the trail is not like what you see in the pic above, it just for the first 10 mins. The trail was so slippery from the rain last night, and causes many of us to fall on our butt several times. But once you on the top, the view were breathtakingly beautiful and silence our tiredness.

I thought (AGAIN!) that view was totally worth it. But the journey to go down is not an enjoyable experience, it took us 2 hours more! Again, the trail was very slippery, I fall many time like ‘nangka busuk’. The ‘suppose’ to be the last 30 mins from the end of the trail…rain came like cats and dogs. Plus, we have to wait for one of the student who’s suddenly got cramp leg. 30 mins turns to an hour ride down, and it was dark already during our journey + rain = NIGHTMARE!

But after all that hiking experience, I still felt happy and fun coz I know this is once in the lifetime kindda thing. Besides, the students were all AMAZING and fun to be with. I’ll treasure this experience forever. Thanks TEAM GENESIS!!!

Remembering Her...

This is something that come out of my mind when I humming and singing about my dear bestfriend whose past away a few years ago. I still have her in my dreams, in fact I just dreamt about her yesterday. May God bless your soul and I'm really sorry for everything... I wish I could done more to comfort you....

Can you hear me, can you hear me
Can you hear me, I'm calling for you
I can hear you, I can hear you
I can hear you, you calling for me

But why, I'm crying tonight
Empty space, empty heart
No sound tonight

Please be with me
I wanna be with you
If you want to, I'll be here for you

I wanna tell you
Will you hear me
I miss you, I'm crying for you

Oh why, I'm alone tonight
Stars still bright
Wind still light
It's a lonely night

Still why, you leaving tonight
I love you
He loves you
Still alone tonight

MY BOREDOM

I felt bad doing nothing while at work, but when the internet is slow and most of my work need me to access the WWW... I just don't know what to do... So, my friends and maybe "colleagues", these what I've been doing for a couple of weeks now....

Playing childish games everyday until I was bored and "stupid' playing it

These row of games were from some of my students and my colleagues. I just finished it all in over a week (working days!!!). Civilization 4 is my old games, that I kindda forgot about it and I'm trying to get my 'groove' back by playing the hard level, but unfortunately I've never won against the comp.

Watching Heroes (s1) again!!!

My movies folder.

Watching nodame sp again! Nodame Cantabile is the best dorama I've seen so far.

I'm wasting my time watching movies and series that I've seen before and playing childish games, just because I can't enter the Internet. It show how depended we are (or I am) to the WWW that we need it 24/7 just to do our work!

Happy fasting everyone and HAVE A NICE AND WONDERFUL DAY!!!

Escape fromHuang Shi

This is the kind of movie that I love to watch. It’s a true story from real people that inspired me to become a GOOD, kind and a useful person. I’m not afraid to cry watching this, nor am I ashamed of it. Last night, I was watching this Korean drama called “Women in the Sun” at KBS WORLD and my roomie was crying like there is no tomorrow. I was like…what THE HELL!!! That soap/melodramas kind of story is not gonna make me weep! I’m not a sensitive person; I rarely cared about anything other than my interests. You can call me selfish or anything but maybe that’s the truth, I don’t know… I don’t understand myself either.

The point is, I rarely (but still sometimes do, i.e. 1 litre of tears) cry watching a movie or drama coz I know it just part of the show; it’s not real. Maybe that’s why I love true stories (I also read and bought non-fiction books only, but I don’t read much), coz its REAL and had happen before. As long as they keep it REAL, I don’t mind a few ‘not-so-real’ scenes to spice up the story.

Okay, back to “Escape from Huang Shi”. This is a true story about a journalist named George Hogg, who’s during Japanese occupation, goes to Nanjing to get a story like any other war journalists during WW2. There, he witnessed the Japanese massacre of the Nanjing people and he snaps a few photos during that event. After he was captured by the Japanese army, and later saved by a nationalist Chinese soldier named Jack (Chow Yun Fat), he was ‘sent’ (by a nurse/doctor, Lee Pearson) to travel to a boy’s orphanage. That’s how his legacy began; he’s been taking care of these children, even though he hate it at first, for …I don’t know how long, but from unhealthy, malnutrition, uneducated, unwanted children, he literally changed them into healthy, educated young boys; even the Chinese nationalist wants them as young soldiers. In order to save them from becoming a child soldiers, he march them all to a new place, for 3 months in the winter to a new ‘heaven’ (Mongolian Desert actually) where they can start all over again but free from wars. As what usually happen to kind-hearted, heaven-like people, he died young, but he leaves a long lasting legacy that still remembered today.

However, the movie itself is not that great, it’s a good movie but not GREAT. The acting is ok, I’m not a fan of Jonathan Rhys Meyers (as George Hogg), coz he walks funny, but he’s improve a lot after ‘Bend it like Beckham’. The girl I-don’t-know her name is, played Lee Pearson (the name Lee is interesting to me as it’s like a Chinese's name), is so-so for me, not much of an impact to me. Her real life character is actually a man, which make this movie not really following the real ‘thing’- a minus there. Chow Yun Fat and Michelle Yeoh were okay, good like always even though they were the supporting character. The overall movie is actually good, as the story focus on George and the boys not the war itself. Again like I said earlier, this is a good movie but NOT the GREAT one. I've seen many GREAT, wonderful true stories movies before; trust me this still worth watching.

I’ve also watched D-War or Dragon War (back-2-back, after Escape from Huang Shi), a Korean blockbuster movie featuring Hollywood actors and sets in LA. I don’t get it why it sells big in Korea, but this movie SUCKED!!! I think if they cast Korean actors, speak Korean and shoots in Korea, this probably going to be BIG, I mean much bigger than The Host. But sadly, they use ‘the Hollywood’ thing here and it sucked big time!

So, watch Escape from Huang Shi and forget about D-War.

Cloverfield

I just watch Cloverfield... like an hour ago and I'M LOVING IT! This movie had not so good reviews in Malaysia, and it's not that "popular" either among my friends. So it took me a while to finally watch the DVD.

What I like about Cloverfield is the fact all the actors were unknown. It's make the movie more realistic and we feel like all the characters are "real"; even for the policeman. Because the movie was shot based on digicam record ala 'Blair Witch Project', it suppose to make us think that's what happen in reality if it's happen; and they do a very good job on that. The facts that the monster is unknown in the beginning, and we still don't know what is IT in the end make the movie more focus on point of view of regular people like us; that we rarely seen in the Hollywood big budget movies. The trends of Hollywood movies nowadays are more focus on big budget, actions pack and A-list stars and make it trilogy so they can bank in more money. Cloverfield is fresh and new for Hollywood trends and maybe that's why I like so much. (But I read somewhere that they want to make Cloverfield 2...)

However, while watching this movie, coz it look realistic, I wonder about one thing. What kindda camera they used? I mean the digicam the character used in the movie. You see, this movie is an hour and a half and it seems like the camera didn't have to worried about the battery life at all. Maybe it just me...But I've done that before, running round with my digicam in one day, but in the end the battery is low, and I can't record anymore. But again, maybe it just me...

Other than that, this is a GREAT movie. I don't really like monster movie, coz it gross, but this is worth to watch. However this is my no.2 favorite monster movie after The Host...

MOURNING...

Yesterday is a very sad day for US; UNITAR SABAH family. Our student and a younger brother to our staff (Sen, one of my Jakarta's partner), A FUU passed away at 10am. He has been battling with cancer for a year and finally buried today at 12pm in Kota Belud.

I remember about 2 years a go, when a tumor found in his brain and we all held a blood donation in our building (and some goes to the hospital), so he can have surgery. At that time, the doctor said the tumor was not cancer. But his symptoms didn't go away after the surgery, and after more testing and more specialist doctors, a year later he's been diagnose with nose cancer.

Even talking about him make me cry.. my condolences goes to SEN and her family . He has been suffering a lot, and finally he's in peace... We all will always remember you!!!!

Politics and more Politics!!!

After the general election, seems like everybody talking more about politics, like every morning during breakfast. And then, the fuel hike came. Everybody talking about that, and of course more and more about politics and the government decision on the sudden increase of fuel. Some people were okay about that (many of whom were either rich or have 'close link' with the government) but many were not that happy and sparks a lot of talking and discussion on the web about...what else, POLITICS!!

And then Anwar came, and we talk more about him and...POLITICS. Then chedet.com (Dr. M's blog) were access by a million people in a month, and most of the time the posting were about POLITICS. My friends talk more about politics now during breakfast than about their boyfriends or girlfriends, or cars and shopping. It seem like everyone around me were getting their Phd. in POLITICS! Why??? My answer, I do not know....

Whatever happen in Malaysia's POLITICS, one things that I really really hope is PEACE. Sorry if this is sound like a beauty queen, but I do really mean it. Palestein-Israel still cost so many human lives, people still dying coz of hunger in some african country and it looks like Sudan will be the same for a few years. Oops, out of topics... but anyway, I just hope our POLITICIAN really sincere about out nation than 'the power' that they will get....

RF radiation...???

I just got back from a seminar/talk about radio frequency (RF) radiation and health awareness from mobile phone, electronic appliances and communication towers. Well, we've heard a lot of stories about this on the net and most of it maybe just a myth.

I had seen many reports about this on CNN and documentaries on TV, but the first thing that cross my mind when I knew about this topic today was this korean TV show on KBSWORLD that I just watch a few weeks ago. I forgot what it is... well they tasted the frequency of home appliances and mobile phone, in a very funny way! Maybe thats why that the first thing I remember, not the CNN report about the effect among kids using cellphone in a very early age; well that was second... Anyway, microwave is the most hazardous in term of RF, but not deadly coz if it is, we will not using it today.

One of the panel is associate prof. from UMS's Medical School, and his insight was interesting. There was a study done in Singapore that stated using cellphones too long can cause headache. But again, there is no proper test on when the headache start or why; it can be from stress or maybe a migraine.

I'm not worried about using mobile phone. Yes, it has RF but as the prof. said, either we in our own home or walking down the street, we will be expose to many kind of hazardous things like dust, UV sunlight and RF from other appliances. Plus the RF from mobile phone is not that high and a human body still can handle the frequency; that is maybe around 800-2100MHz.

Why I'm talking about this??? I don't know, really... Maybe I just want the "Mythbuster" to test is it true you can make a popcorn from 4 cellphones ringing at the same time.... (One of the questions during the talk)

Jakarta...

I just got back from Jakarta, and I feel a little bit 'holiday-ish' till today. I woke-up late in the morning, resulting me being late to the office.

Well, Jakarta is nothing like KK or KL. It's true what all the online reviews had about Jakarta traffic. "Macet nya teruk sekali!!!" Yes, traffic jam is a nightmare there. If you are planning to go there, make sure hire a very good 'supir'(driver, of course with a car la..) that can drive you around the city. Here's a tip, DON'T RENT A CAR! It's not gonna cost you much to hire a driver, trust me.

Most Malaysian go there to shop, right. To tell you the truth, the price is not that cheap. Even if it cheap, it still not worth go miles a way just for shopping. First, the quality not that good and second the price is almost the same with Malaysian MegaSale in KL; for me la... (my opinion maybe differ than others coz I'm not a good 'shooper'). The only best place to shop for me is in Bandung's factory outlets! Because there is where all the branded items were sold in a very, I repeat, very very cheap price. Factory outlets is heaven for shopperholic! It's just that during my visit, it was our last destination and I was already run out of money, so......

The journey itself was fun. Seeing another culture is so eye opening for me. We maybe talk the same language, well almost the same... but they use it in a different way. For example, sport we called 'sukan' but Indonesian will not understand it when we want to find 'kedai sukan' (sport stores) coz they called it 'olahraga'!!! It take us 2 days to finally found the 'Olahraga' stores.

Maybe I'll continue it later...I have to go coz it almost 5. I'm fasting today, you know why la... soon will be ramadhan, so bayar puasa la...apa lagi...

Oh, the pixs are in my flickr or you can check the slideshow... CIAO!!!

BAD DAY for all of us!!!

I'm feeling good yesterday, watching the trees glooming like SPRING (see my last post below), finally received my plastic rug (I bought from TAWAU last Kamaatan Holiday for only RM18!!!) which my friend had been keeping it for 2 days coz my car is not big enough to carry it from TAWAU and of course I just got back from Tawau and the feeling of Holiday is still fresh in my head.

This is the plastic rug that I bought from Tawau, it's actually from Indon, so it is super cheap in Tawau. I don't have any pic, but if you go to the Pasar Tawau, people there buying this ALOT...like they wanna sell it!!!

Sadly, this "happiness" didn't last long. Aroung 7.45pm last night, my housemate's sister call her up from Lahad Datu with the news that all the petrol station in there is jam pack with cars and motorists filling up their tank. I was surprised by the news; from what I read for the past few days, the government is planning to increase fuel prices by august; guess well all got P'UNK!!!

Cars queuing to fill in their tank

I didn't waste anytime and get my car key and wallet and start driving to the nearest petrol station. Well, it no surprised that all the petrol station were pack with cars waiting their turn to get the last cheap price of fuel. I was in queue for an hour and a half for a distance that less than 1km to fill the petrol in my tank. In reality, the fuel price will go up; I suspect one day it will go to up to RM5 per liter, maybe higher, but it just nonsense to suddenly increase the price when the talk of the month was on august!

My queue after an hour and half...

While in queue, my friend sms me and talk about we will never go out to eat alot now (like 'we' always do), no more cinema, no more shopping, even for window shopping and we all will live like an anti-social society... I'm afraid to say that she's right, the price of EVERYTHING eventually will increase and with the salary for average malaysian (private worker) that likely will NOT increase we must adapt a new lifestyle...Which is eat less, less entertainment and less traveling with car!

SPRING coming to town

I just notice these beautiful trees near my home. It's feel like SPRING!!! But sadly, we don't have 4 seasons here, only hot and rain...

It's make my day bright and warm!!!

MAS vs AIR ASIA

I was watching TV on Sunday and watched the MAS so called ‘breaking news’ of ZERO fare campaign a few times and it tempted me to go online the next day to check for the ZERO fare. Traffic is very high for the first time (I guess) on MAS website coz I hardly get access for booking a ticket. So, I try the next day (Tuesday, 6/5). Before that, I was reading The Star online on AIR ASIA claims that they’re ticket is still the cheapest even compare to ZERO fare on MAS, so I wanna check it out.

MAS ZERO fare return ticket KK-KL-KK is RM240; 0 + 240 of taxes and fuel surcharge (maybe??? MAS only classify as tax). Meanwhile on AIRASIA, return ticket KK-KL-KK is RM221; 39 (seat) + 6 (airport tax) + 22.50 (admin fee) + 43 (fuel surcharge). So technically, AIR ASIA is right, they are the cheapest airlines. (Both prices for 1/11 and return 8/11)

Let me compare the two airlines services so you can see what you get with that price. Before that, let me reminder you that I’m not a frequent traveler, so my experience with an airline maybe not much, but I do travel between KK-TWU-KK around 3-4 times a year; mostly via AIR ASIA.

If you think you can get free food on board with MAS, you’re wrong! My friend’s husband fly with MAS recently and he said they are only serves sandwiches, which in reality should cost less than RM10. However, AIR ASIA sells their food at twice (maybe more) of the original price, so it depends on what you wanna eat. But AIR ASIA is very clever on charging their services, i.e. xpress boarding RM20, insurances RM12 and recently checked baggage RM5 or RM3 online for one bag (excluding excess baggage). If your math is good as mine, then the price between AIR ASIA and MAS is almost the same. (Of course you can skip the xpress boarding and insurance which make AIR ASIA the winner!)

AIR ASIA also claims that they have newer plane and spacious seat; well I disagreed with that! I was on their new Airbus once, from KK-KL in 2006 (after delayed for about an hour) and the seat is not ‘spacious’ as they claim it to be, in fact it still the same as their older plane. If you are big and tall person, it maybe not gonna be a pleasant journey for you. MAS planes is not much of a different in term of ‘spacious’ but it’s comfortable for big and tall person.

My friends complaint a lot on AIR ASIA stewardess make-up and appearances, but I care less about that, I just hope they can be more friendly and don’t talk too loud when chit chatting among themselves. In contrast, MAS staffs deserved the ‘best cabin crew’ awards (if I’m not mistaken, they won that a few years ago); their quality of services is the best even for domestic flight.

So, which one do you choose?? If you care less about comfort, then AIR ASIA is the best choice; it’s cheap!!! But if bring a lot of luggage (I mean A LOT!), with children and elderly person, cares about comfort and money is not an issue, then pick MAS. As for me, I hope the fight between MAS and AIR ASIA continues, coz we as consumer can get the benefit of low fare and more choices!!!!

My back car's bumper and also unknown hand

I just back from the workshop and it's gonna cost me around RM280. I paid RM315 for the motor that hit me, coz I'm nice...so I totally broke this month!!! But thank God no one got hurt, that all that matter, coz life can't be replace...

Pulau Tiga

Last weekend (5/4), my colleague and I were in Pulau Tiga visiting the famous survivor island. Here are some pixs from that trips (courtesy of evan, my colleague's cams).

Waiting for a ferry to Kuala Penyu, this is the first time I had seen and board this kind of ferry.

Boat ride to Pulau Tiga, it takes about 30 minute trip on this boat.

Arriving at the dock.

Lunch!!! The most delicious lunch I ever had. The menu is simple but yet its feel like 5 star resort.

Mud volcano bath... The MUST DO at Pulau Tiga. But it takes 1 hour 30 minutes to get there (jungle trekking), as we were staying at Borneo Survival Resort, not the Pulau Tiga Resort (it take 15 minutes from there).

Dinner!!! Again, with simple menu but soooooo damn delicious....

Fishing at night.... We (not actually 'we', majority of us don't really fishing) caught maybe 10 or more fishes.

Signboard of the place that we were staying, that's Evan...

Finally, saying goodbye...

Do I look like a terrorist???

I was on the flight from Tawau to Kota Kinabalu, and this was during Chinese New Year break, like a month ago. The flight was not really full coz it was still Saturday and many people are planning to go back on Sunday. I was sitting alone on the 3th or 4th row at back of the flight, I can’t really remember where but there are still people sitting behind me. Sitting 2 rows in front of me were this 3 ‘Mat Saleh’ people, Caucasian I think, maybe Aussie or American, can’t really tell. After we landed safely at Kota Kinabalu airport, I was like stretching my body and yawning big wide open while saying ‘Allahhuakbar’, which is a phrase that Muslims use to praise the One God, and I’ve been using it since high school to avoid saying stupid things like ‘oh pocot, mak kau’ or ‘shxx, motherfxxxker’. Living in majority Muslim country, most Sabahan or local passengers didn’t really care what I had just said. But the 3 westerners in front of me were immediately; I mean like in a second, turn their heads and look at me in shock. I also surprised seeing their pale white faces with an open mouth looking at me like I’m a criminal or doing something wrong here. Here I am, sitting alone near the rear window, wearing a simple hijab, t-shirt and jeans, and I just said ‘Allahhuakbar’…. Do I looked like a terrorist ??? I guess not, coz they were looking at each other after that and start laughing out loud. I still don’t get it and so do the rest of the passengers, but after putting all the pieces together I was like, oh…. They thought I was gonna blow up the plane…WHAT!!!

m-flo Award Supernove – Loves Best

m-flo loves me and I loves m-flo. This is the best album in 2008 I’ve heard so far. Well, actually it still February and I don’t listen to many albums and singles yet. I’m so selected in what I’m going to download coz I don’t wanna see a folder that I never put in winamp queue again, so I wanna try m-flo coz I super crazy with ‘Miss you’ song and I know they are good but never really seriously listening to their stuff. Boy I’m not wrong. Loves Best means all the best songs from their collaborations with other famous singers.

The beginning (track 1), chapter 5 (5), chapter 9 (7), ping (11) and infinity (15) are track that I don’t understand what is about coz they are either speaking Japanese or just music; kindda like intro to every part of the songs in the album. If I’m not mistaken, track 2 is the newest songs that they are created for the album (I’m not familiar with this band so I just guessing here) coz they have PV for this song. It’s an alright song at first but loving it after a while. I so into track 3, ‘miss you’. This is 2003 song, so kindda old but still loving it. The lyric is like talking to someone but you put music and melody in there and that make it so wonderful. The whole album can be played in the club and everybody can dances with it. That what I feel when listened to the entire album. It got a few slow tracks, but… DJ plays that music louder, onegai… Go here for download, it from JPOPnKPOP site. Here is the entire track for the album. I loves track 3, 6, 9, 12, 13, 14 and 16.

1. The Beginning
2. Love Comes and Goes (m-flo Emi Hinouchi, Ryohei, Emyli, Lisa & Yoshika)
3. Miss You (m-flo melody. & Ryohei)
4. Lotta Love (m-flo Minmi)
5. Cosmic Night Run (m-flo Maki Nomiya & Crazy Ken Band)
6. Summer Time Love (m-flo Emi Hinouchi & Ryohei)
7. Chapter 9
8. Hey! (m-flo Akiko Wada)
9. The Love Bug (m-flo Boa)
10. Let Go (m-flo YOSHIKA)
11. Ping
12. Tripod Baby (m-flo Lisa)
13. Luvotomy (m-flo Namie Amuro)
14. Love Song (m-flo Bonnie Pink)
15. ∞
16. REEEWIND! (m-flo Crystal Kay)
17. The Rest is History...

Jumper

I just watched Jumper last night and it’s really disappointed me. If you already watch it, I bet you brain full of question mark when you left the theater. I know maybe it’s a trend in Hollywood right now to make movies that have potential to do a sequel, but the first one is not even worth of watching, why the hell I wanna watch no. 2.

The opening narration of the movie for me is so lame. The Hero is one arrogant kid; even he said he’s not. I don’t think Hayden-I don’t know the last name (the guy from star wars) have a great voice that can charm me. I just hate the narration part, just go on with the story already, we all know what he can do, we can read the synopsis, da…. The flashback is unnecessary for me. I prefer if his live can be uncovered through out the movie, instead put the chessy childhood past in the beginning. His relationship with Millie (played by the ‘short’ girl from OC, sorry I don’t know her name) is so sudden; I mean he only find her when he is in trouble and they’ve been together for about a day (??? I also confused here).

I don’t understand the Paladin; Samuel L. Jackson with blonde hair??? Weird dude!!! Plus he’s the bad guy. If you wanna kill someone, at least tell us why. Why you kill them with that knife??? I know, only God can have this power, but some history will be great about the ‘EVIL JUMPER’ (if any??? and this should be in the beginning) that make them create an organization so they can kill the jumper. That’s make my point of sequel is crystal clear, don’t you think so? And the mommy stuff…when you wanna explained that, in JUMPER 2???

I still don’t get some of the term they used in the movie, like scars in Jamie Bell’s (yes, I’ve seen Billy Elliot, it's good!!!) neck and jump site (I got confused is it a permanent place like a point you can ‘jump’ or just the place you ‘jump’). Well, the ending is not settled (hint: no. 2???) and I’m not entertained watching this movie. Even if this is a bad movie, at least entertain us with your actions pack and special effect. The fight between Jamie and Hayden is so out of control, I can’t tell who’s who (maybe it just me).

I don’t know what else to say than just read the book (it apparently based on the sci-fi book back in 1990s). I read the synopsis in the wiki and it will be great if they just follow the book’s storyline (maybe, I just saying…). Please dear God, don’t you make another Jumper. Invest in something good, like Bourne 4??? Hahahaha…

Big Bang!

I know this band when their ‘reality show’ airing on MTV asia last year. I’ve never a fan of KPOP even though I watch a lot of Korean drama series and movies. The reality series is OK, but not enough to make me go crazy at them. At that time, they are already BIG in Korea and Asia. But when MTV asia put their hit single ‘Lies’ on the 100 best song of 2007 and aired their the music video (MV), my interests start to spark. I’m not a fan of boy band, especially KPOP boy band, but their new Big Bang – For The World English mini album (as part as their world ‘domination’ strategy) is honestly GOOD. Anyway here is my ‘romanize’ (I don’t know how it should be call) version of their ‘Lies’ lyric.

거짓말

Yuh-ba-sae-yo...
Yuh-ba-sae-yo?

I hate them damn love songs... moment of ours
