So, you wanna be an ATC...
It's been months since my last post. I just quite lazy with blogging, and with Facebook and twitter came along, blogging kindda 'old school', and bored. However, the reason I start blogging anyway because I wanna improve my English...so I think I need to continue writing even though no one actually reading this...hehehehe
As from the previous post, I currently in-training to become an ATC, or Air Traffic Controller. When I told my friends and family I got a job as an ATC, they were like...what?? "Oh...the one that wave to the aircraft to park" like this one. I was also confuse myself of what actually I'll be doing as an ATC at first, that's why in order to work as an ATC, we have to train for about a year or less (depending on your work requirement) both in theoretical and practical aspect of air traffic control.
Another interesting conversation with fellow "aviation" partners aka airport and airline staffs about ATC is..."Oh, you the one that crash the planes" and what worst is the fact that some of them didn't realize that we are exist! Unless your are a pilot, the chances that you heard about us, an ATC is slim. During the one week orientation before the ATC Primary Course started, most of the instructors and guest speakers told us that an ATC is an unsung heroes of the aviation industry. People didn't know us, no picture what so ever will be publish anywhere commercially about ATC, and we the one that keep thousand of planes safe in the air and land on the ground every day, but one mistake is enough to ruin your whole career.
Instructors and fellow ATCs also jokes about how an ATCO is actually "Aku Tak Campur Orang". Literally means that we don't mix with other people, which is partly true. Once your work as an ATC, there is no 8-5 job, all operation are in shift (unless you work in HQ, which usually fill by "experience" people) coz this is 24/7 operation, as long as there is planes in the sky, Towers and ATCC (air traffic controller center, or we called it as "center") will be open for business. Hence, when regular 8-5 people go to work, we usually sleep and when we work, they will be sleeping. Moreover, when we talk about "traffic" (as in air traffic) they have no idea what we are talking about. Even if we talk about this to other fellow aviation industry people, they having a hard time to understand it!
Most of my instructor told me how ATC gonna change our personality and attitude, mostly towards our daily life. I'm still in training, so I do not notice any personality change in me so I do not know this, but they said we will be more firm and particular with our daily life as what we do actually is giving instructions every day and the pilots will definitely follow them. If the pilots cannot accept route A, we give route B, or route C, or D.... if none of the above, we still give route A with restrictions, or B with restriction or C with restriction, if still can't comply...well we give pilots more restrictions as it is not only 1 planes in the sky, it is hundred to thousand of planes flying in Malaysian airspace every day. Pilots can't see other planes when cruising...for example FL300 (30000 feet) in the air, they are flying blind with instrument in the cockpit to help them, they need ATC to guide them the wright way and to separate them with other aircraft.
I think I wrote long enough for my first post in 8 months. Maybe next time I try to update regularly....well we'll see...I'm a lazy person...
Ciao....

New year, another new place...
It's been a while since I post anything in this blog. I'm in a busy mode after final exam as I was preparing some documents for my new employment. And now I'm already start my training in Sepang, or specifically in Malaysia Aviation Academy (MaVA) located near to the F1 and LCCT. The training is the same like attending classes but of course with more discipline because what we learn here actually what we will be applied when we start working. I want to write more...I really do need to update regularly but with the busy schedule and the lack of the interest of me to take pictures of every events that happening in my daily life leave me with zero ideas to write about. The pictures below are from a friend's phone to show you guyz what I've been doing since the new year.

This is a sort of jungle trekking....if you want to called a palm oil estate as a jungle....

The final night of the orientation week, we have to sing a group song and listen to the Director of Department of Civil Aviation's speech.
You will gonna be alright
Let's make a pact
Don't be late
We will always at your back
We pumping fire in your eyes
Always fire-up!

Unplanned is my thing...
Because I can't get a ticket to langkawi, I go to Bukit Tinggi instead. The reason why I can't get a ticket simply because I don't like buying ticket in advance. Even with plane tickets, I'll wait until I completely sure of the date (even though I know if I stall any longer the price will be more expensive than previous one).
Well, first Bukit Tinggi that you saw in the picture is totally different from the 'real world'. I was like, "that's it!!!" Unfortunately yes, that's it, nothing more. Once you reach the top (if u sabahan, the way up is easy compare to Kundasang), at the Colmar Tropicale it exactly 15 mins walks from the car park to the Colmars' and back with pictures taken. My advice, unless u going to slept at the hotel, just look at the pictures...at least its prettier. And one thing, it doesn't even cold up there. I see fog though....that's it! Genting maybe much more interesting.
Japanese garden is a tiring one! I drove myself there without taking the shuttle bus because I felt it so unnecessary as I know where exactly it located. Oh boy, big mistake! Shuttle bus can drive all the way up the entrance, while the public car park is located around 5 mins walk up! I mean 'walk up' like 5-storied high....well maybe 4...3... it a hard climb you know! I don't even felt japanese up there! I saw pond with 'koi' fishes, green tea and ppls with rented kimonos and japanese style huts/buildings. But again, that's it! Oh well, they have a super expensive (for me it expensive) Japanese restaurant. I like the jungle walk though.... it therapeutic for me...
Now, who's wanna go to Langkawi with me?

Backup, backup and BACKUP!!!
17/11/2008
I'm literally crying out loud right now, silently in my heart. I'm now writing on my old laptop, which was in the 'bag' for over 6 month with no OS at all, until now. Why you said? Well people, this an advice I always tell my ex-students...BACKUP, BACKUP and BACKUP! My new stylist laptop just CRASH! Yup, you heard me right. I don't know if it's a virus or whatever, it totally 'eaten' my OS. I can't enter the OS and I was like “thank god my data in E:\”... but honey, I can't even reformat it!! Which means I can't even get access to my data. Being a Sc. Comp student, of course I know there is a way to get back all my data....but frankly I DON'T KNOW HOW! To make matter worse, it was happen one day before my final exam... for my very final papers! And all my notes were in that laptop (I don't print them because I don't have printer and to print all of them will cost me $$$...I'm CHEAP!).
UPDATE: A week later I got my laptop back and they have to replace my harddisk with a new one....it fried maybe....they don't discuss what's going on!!

Update...
Anyway, even with that 'tons' of works I have to do, like I said to friend yesterday (during our chat meeting via FB...you know who u are right...) work, study and play is one word for me. I have to do that all at once...if not I go "미치겠어,정말 미치겠어(michigesso, chungmal michigesso)"(sing it like MC MONG...u don't get it ha....). Move on...well what I'm trying to say is, I still do play whenever I want even though I have a lot of work to do. Something like 'work hard play hard', except I play hard more than work, erhm....not good, not good....
I can't relate to Harry Potter T_T...Maybe I'm too old for this (sad to admit!!). Overall, don't like it because less action and too teeny for me! My sis gonna love this though...
It's better than I expected after reading an online reviewed that rated it as "the poor man's Transformers". I do love the action and because of that it still enjoyable. But the dialogue is so cliche, and most of the scene is like 'I seen it a thousand times before' kidda feeling. When I can predict who the bad guys is and what coming up next...means I watch it because there is nothing else to watch! Enjoyable though...
After feeling kidda disappointed watching high explosive action-CGI movies (erhm...Transformer...GI Joe...Harry Potter...what esle ya??), I turned to the girly flick...the romantic comedy that sure is so over CLICHE but gonna make my heart smileeee...arh...so sweet... This movie is not a disappoitment. It has all the right ingredients for romantic comedy, hot guy, super nice house, great scenery and of course got family feeling...ah....so sweet... WTH! I admit it, I like it! What to do, I'm old and single...of course I like this stuff! Moving on...
I also watched "Ghost of Girlfriend Past"...not good!
I'm also listening to 2NE1 new mini album. Hard to admit it, I like it very much. The entire album is non-stop playing in head! Not to be forgotten, MC MONG - Indian Boy!!!
Why all the sudden I update about movies, music and dramas?? Because that's the only things I can do while writing my assignment!! Make sense ha... Of course I do play Mafia wars and farm town on FB, and still exploring the YT. Like I said, I play hard....really hard...should the other way around right..!!!

Melaka...

As I mentioned before, you can just go from one spot to another without taking a bus or car, just walk... if you can stand the heat, otherwise ride a beca for RM40/hr. I rode the beca for an hour and found that it so not worth it as every place is within walking distance, it just because I don't know where to start that I'm taking the beca...

Here is some of the view I snap from Taming Sari Tower. You can see the whole Melaka City from here. I also realize that there are still a lot of places that I didn't go yet!

This is something that I encouter at the Christ Church. At first I have no idea who the hell they are and what the hell they are doing. But during the 3rd dance, they are wearing somewhat like Korean tradisional dress and dance to Korean Christian song, so I figure they were Korean Church group or something....nice step though....

Why???
I'm a Muslim, so maybe I'm a little bit bias, but I'm sure in a modern society, freedom of speech and expression is so very important, and so too the human rights. If the bikinis (sometimes topless) is allowed in public places, why covering yourself is a "symbol" of an oppression against women. Why the government want to control what people should be wearing? It up to the individual rights to do whatever their pleases with their life, as long as it's not a crime. When the hell "dress code" part of the crime anyway...
When I was in Manukan last year, me and my friend (and many more ppls on that island) encounter a tourist who's swimming and sunbathing topless! Malaysia is a Muslim country, and yes many KKrian is Christian, but we still Asian, we don't just go around topless on the beach! But out of the respect their culture (even though I don't think she respect ours), we just mind our own business and cared less about them.
It's all about respect and understanding people, no word is needed... or a freaking law!! If you think Muslim women whose wear burka is part of the oppression, maybe you should do a background check on them. I'm sure many educated Muslim women believe wearing a burka or hijab is part of women empowerment nowadays. And if a Muslim women choose to NOT wearing a hijab, it also part of their choice and human rights. We are in 21st century and still there are people from the 19th....

Weekend Roundup
I like to tell you a story about my neighborhood in a 'dark' right now, so I can't online from home, but what the h***, let's continue this post first... ok starto....
As what you (yes, you...there are not alot of ppl actually read this crap!) already knew, I'm not a 'sociable' person, so I rarely going out during the weekend. I like to sit at home watching TV and play games rather than going out looking for parking and line up at the register. But as I grew "older" I want to visit as many places as I can, not shopping mall, or zoos or theme park...if you know what I mean.
The next day, I have an appointment at the beauty shop (coz I bought the coupon). I end up buying their product and the sign up for the long treatment!!! They goes my fees for 2 semester!! I admit I have a very terrible skin (u know right....), and their so lovely and sweet talk....ARGH!!!!!!! I'm in the phase of regreting my decision..... T__T. I hope my mom don't found out about this....
Something funny...
BTW.... I have 2 more years to 30!!!! I wish live could be simple....

What going on so far...
Damn I make fun of myself!!!
Enough with that, so what's going on so far...with me....
(But seriously guyz, Vista is soooo annoying!!)
I'm listening to Utada new english album. The album is great but the lyrics kindda akwards, mostly because Utada often writes in japanese. But it still awesome! ppls with money, go and buy the album.
(I got the above pic from 1n2dfansub, thanks whose ever posted it there)I'm crazy about 6 guyz on a trip and got tortured by the production crew to make a funny and hilarious TV show, this is 1박2일 or 2 days 1 night (1n2d). I got tired with tears and hardship of Kdrama, and the lovey dovey teenage Jdorama, so I switch to the super funny variety show! But I still watch kdrama and jdorama, coz it still fun...sometimes, in a very selective way....

After Final....
Currently, I'm working part-time in UTM (working student is my status here), doing some paperwork for upcoming system testing and hopefully can continue 'till project end. The lecturer that I'm working for now, said the work maybe take place in a month, which is perfect for me as I need to prepare for my project master as well.
Well, looks like I'm gonna be invincible for a while...

Final exam - Day 1
The questions is super damn confusing!!! Not hard, but very confusing, which make it more harder to answers. And why suddenly it has a lot explaining, what it is or what is that, advantages and that kindda thing questions!!! I do read the book, and the slides...but hell no I'm gonna remember it!! You see, I DON'T read....because EVERYTHING, I mean EVERYTHING gonna be washed away when I turn to the next page! That's why I sucked during my undergrad years.... And why the hell again am I doing here!!! Ya Allah, pls help me pass this paper!!!

It's been a while....
First, lets look of what I've been doing these days. My daily routines is morning classes from Mon-Thurs, sometimes I have class in the afternoon, sometimes I don't. Every week or two, I have assignment to do, and usually the due date is within two weeks. So even I don't have a new assignments this week, I have A LOT waiting in line to be done (procrastination is part of me!!). In fact, within 3 weeks to go before final, I have roughly 5 assignment need to be done, and 1 or 2 maybe start to line-up next week (the question is not up yet). But do not worry, I'll get it done, if not consider my Master goodbye, so I MUST DO IT!!
During weekends, I've no classes, and this is the best time for me to do all my assignments. But again temptation is every where for me, especially I follow certain shows that I LOVE so much and YouTube is up 24/7. If you know me, I mean really really know me, I'm so damn IN LOVE with 1박2일, so every Monday I'll watch the show from the net (this is Sunday show, usually on Monday "nice ppl" will start uploading it on the net). And I also follows Boys over flower Korea version (I'd watch the Taiwan and japan ver, and Hana Yori Dango Japan Ver is the BEST so far), so Tuesday and Wednesday I'll be watching that also (BOF Kor aired on Monday and Tuesday in Korea, so you can found it on the net the next day after it aired). I also DL several Jdorama, and haven't finish it all ( just finish with Mei-Chan No Shitsuji, in line Gokusen 3, Bara no nai hanaya, Love Shuffle and Arifureta Kiseki). Now you see why I don't have time for assignments, let alone blogging!!!
What else I do??? Ehm....nothing really, besides going to Singapore last 2 weeks, I've done nothing interesting. Maybe I should start doing something to achieved my dreams, but what is my dreams actually??? This question I could not answer, as well as these;"What is your goal in life??" or "Picture yourself 20 years form now" or "What you wanna do next??". For the past 10 years of my life, I've been searching the "true" me, what make me happy,...my purpose living in this world...yet, I found nothing. I'm still clueless...

Silent
And that's why my friends, I've been silent for a while. Not that busy (I actually have a few test last week and...tomorrow!!!), but I had this so called "writer-block", even though I'm just a blogger. Anyway, I'll definitely start to write something...about my horrible experience dealing with UTM management, maybe I'll start tomorrow once the test is over.
Till then...ciao...

Wasting Time...
Even though I'm not Chinese, but we Malaysian have a wonderful 4 days holiday celebrating Chinese New Year. I usually watch TV a lot during holidays, but somehow nowadays I found TV is boring. My taste is different. I enjoyed JPOP and asian entertainment. I laugh like crazy watching korean variety show. My favourite NO.1 show is not House (NO.2) or Heroes or Grey's, is 1박 2일 (1 night 2 days). So during this loooong holiday, I spend almost 12 hours a day watching X MAN on youtube, for 2 consecutive days (well, my Internet is not that fast). I don't watched all but I really love the "Of Course/Dangyunhaji" game. It's really funny! Here one of my fave round.

New place, new life
There is nothing fun or easy being a student again. I now realize why I failed or barely pass most of my subject during my 'bachelor degree' years. I never actually study! Seriously, I study just for exam. I don't know how I actually graduated.
My 'new' life so far has been hard, sometime (well, I do have fun). My schedule is pack from mon-fri, I have tons of assignments to do and some I've no idea how to solve (automata and regular expression is killing me!), I need to figure out my project's title (HEADACHE!!) and find a supervisor, which is hard coz it's difficult to see a lecturer (they always NOT in their room!!), unless before or after class, and I need to find a scholarship or a study loan coz apprently nothing FREE in this world.
No matter how tough my life so far, I know I can survive this. I have to! I'm not passionate enough about study and research and all, but I somehow WANT this. I don't understand myself either...
On the different note, I currently BOYCOTTING all the AMERICAN product whose helping the Israeli attacks to Palestinian. I'll always thought I'm a small person with no impact what so ever to the world, but I still want to help. So, I currently avoiding McD (which my favourite!), coke and Starbucks (and many more once I know the list of products) for a week, and continue for another week and so on, until the killings stop in GAZA. I hope you my friends do the same.
Christmas in Singapore
27/12/2008
Christmas in Singapore
I was in Singapore with a friend, my x-colleague and one of my Jakarta’s partners. The plan was to have a return trip for a day, but it become 1박2일 adventure after hearing people stories about how grand the sales is in Singapore. By means sales, it’s not gonna be like KL. Singapore is famous with ‘super’ brand items, so that what we were aiming for. But before that, we need a place to sleep. Finding one is 2 hours walk for us, by foot, in the central city of Singapore. Well, we didn’t have any plan where to stay, let alone a reservation. The plan was to just go there and eventually we’ll find one, the cheapest hotel, or a hostel; basically we need a cheapest place to stay. Unfortunately we choose the wrong place.
Orchard road in Singapore is famous with line-up of shopping complexes through out the road. When you walk down the road from beginning (we started at Orchard Plaza) to the end at Tanglin Road, all you can see is label of brand items like Chanel, Gucci, YSL, Louis Vutton and many more that I don’t even know. Just imagine you walking at the KLCC and see Gucci, Fendi, Guess and Versace, except that you now seeing all that brand from outside the shopping complex, while you were walking, in every shopping complexes that you pass, through out the road. So, it makes sense that the hotels there are also ‘brand stuff’. We were not prepared with all the ‘wealthy’ stuff there. We were not innocence to think that there will be a budget hotel near by, actually there are. But we’re too stupid to think that we can just go there without a map, and a single clue or even a name of a hotel we were ‘researching’ before we get there. Anyway, after 2 hours of walk, and a crash to a 4/5 stars hotel asking for maps, we were settle at Lloyd’s Inn, next to SHA Villa, along Lloyd road, for S$100 per night (SHA Villa cost around S$150). Translation: around RM240++. There’s goes our budget!
After an hour rest, we head out to the famous Orchard road for some ‘window shopping’ before we decide tomorrow if we actually can afford it. Because it’s Christmas, part of the road was close for a special event, and the road itself was bright, sparkling and colorful with all the lights, trees and Christmas decorations they put along the road. That night, the street were pack with people, I means it has hundred and thousand of people from local to foreigner (mainly Westerner and rich Indonesian), shopping and celebrating Christmas there.
If a budget hotel is hard to find, halal food is even harder. You’ll be thinking like, “come on Singaporean also have Malays mah…so like Malaysia la…everything can eat punya”. You’re super dead WRONG! I already told my friend to eat at Larkin first before entering Singapore, but she said she was full. Nah, we were like fasting that day. Fast food joints like KFC and McD were also not that completely ‘safe’ (I don’t know if you were Singaporean and its still okay on your part) as what Johorian here told me. But when you walk for hours and very very hungry, that’s was our last resort. Again, unfortunately, because of the Christmas celebration and holiday, there were a lot of people that night, and all the McDs (Didn’t saw KFC though, don’t know why) we go were pack with people. Finally we found 3 possibly ‘Halal’ restaurants, a Malay (it close at 9pm, and it 9 already during that ‘searching’ time), an Indian Muslim and Indonesian. We settle at the Indonesian restaurant, and as usual I ordered ‘gado-gado’. That was the expensive ‘gado-gado’ I ever ate!
Tomorrow morning, we checked out at 10am and start our shopping spree after last night ‘observation’. My friend end-up with GUESS wallet costing S$53 and I’m with 2 Dorothy Perkins jeans (which is very suitable with my ass and size) at S$69. Now, if you think that’s cheap please let me know coz we not that ‘familiar’ with these kindda stuff. Besides we treated S$ like RM! Don’t know why, maybe because it’s so near…
After the ‘shopping’ activity end, we were looking for the famous lion, but end-up going to Marina Barrage. I think (coz we just there for a while) the Marina Barrage is an educational + operational place of water processing. The place though (and the view) was amazingly beautiful, so it’s not a waste to go there.
We finally found the lion after checking the map and asking a few people. As tourist usually do, takes some pictures and we plan to go home afterwards. However, we end up taking a short break to Bugis Junction and continue shopping some perfumes there. At first, the perfumes sound cheaper, but once I convert it at home, it almost the same with Malaysian price.
Here’s a tip about going in and out from Singapore. Never do it before and after office hour! We should go out at 8pm, coz boy, every line that you need to queue were looooong (bus, traffic and immigration). We queue up for the bus with the Malaysian worker there at 5pm and arrived at the Singapore immigration around 6pm, queue up again for the bus to Malaysian immigration around 7.15, and arrived at the immigration at 7.45pm, queue up again for bus to Larkin at 8pm, arrived at Larkin around 8.30pm. Usually the whole operation with will take less than an hour.
So next time if you going to Singapore, eat first, if can just sleep in JB and don’t enter (or out) during rush hour!

My "messed up" Life
22nd December 2008
I don’t know what I wanna do. Seriously, my life is so fucked-up right now that I barely can take my breath. My life before was easy, laid back and simple; exactly what I wanted after my graduation. But I never satisfy with that, I still felt emptied and unhappy. Maybe because of the worriedness I had every month, especially when it’s time to pay the bills. Or maybe there are other reasons, I don’t know…I still want more…of life, and me.
At first I thought I wanna become a writer, coz my head is creating new story everyday with images flashes through my brain with a leading lady never had her happily ever after. But sadly I sucked at writing. Whenever I start writing the first paragraph, or the first page, I never really can continue to the next phase. So I abandon that idea, but never truly give up (I start writing this blog to ‘practice’ my writing skills, with 'very' little improvement).
I envy people with ambition and passion. Because they basically love what they are doing, no matter how hard it is. Example, those in CNN’s ‘impact your world’, full-time moms and Kevin Rose (I love this guy, I wish he marry me ;p hahahaha…kidding, it’s a joke, ignore it, it just one of my many fantasies that never going to happen). I mean, they LOVE what they do, LOVE their JOB, ENJOY the life they currently living. I envied people like that, because that’s what I endlessly looking for, to live the life to fullest with happiest even though it hard work. I remember a quote from 8TV’s ‘Fieldtrip
