BAD DAY for all of us!!!

I'm feeling good yesterday, watching the trees glooming like SPRING (see my last post below), finally received my plastic rug (I bought from TAWAU last Kamaatan Holiday for only RM18!!!) which my friend had been keeping it for 2 days coz my car is not big enough to carry it from TAWAU and of course I just got back from Tawau and the feeling of Holiday is still fresh in my head.

This is the plastic rug that I bought from Tawau, it's actually from Indon, so it is super cheap in Tawau. I don't have any pic, but if you go to the Pasar Tawau, people there buying this ALOT...like they wanna sell it!!!

Sadly, this "happiness" didn't last long. Aroung 7.45pm last night, my housemate's sister call her up from Lahad Datu with the news that all the petrol station in there is jam pack with cars and motorists filling up their tank. I was surprised by the news; from what I read for the past few days, the government is planning to increase fuel prices by august; guess well all got P'UNK!!!

I didn't waste anytime and get my car key and wallet and start driving to the nearest petrol station. Well, it no surprised that all the petrol station were pack with cars waiting their turn to get the last cheap price of fuel. I was in queue for an hour and a half for a distance that less than 1km to fill the petrol in my tank. In reality, the fuel price will go up; I suspect one day it will go to up to RM5 per liter, maybe higher, but it just nonsense to suddenly increase the price when the talk of the month was on august!

While in queue, my friend sms me and talk about we will never go out to eat alot now (like 'we' always do), no more cinema, no more shopping, even for window shopping and we all will live like an anti-social society... I'm afraid to say that she's right, the price of EVERYTHING eventually will increase and with the salary for average malaysian (private worker) that likely will NOT increase we must adapt a new lifestyle...Which is eat less, less entertainment and less traveling with car!

MAS vs AIR ASIA

I was watching TV on Sunday and watched the MAS so called ‘breaking news’ of ZERO fare campaign a few times and it tempted me to go online the next day to check for the ZERO fare. Traffic is very high for the first time (I guess) on MAS website coz I hardly get access for booking a ticket. So, I try the next day (Tuesday, 6/5). Before that, I was reading The Star online on AIR ASIA claims that they’re ticket is still the cheapest even compare to ZERO fare on MAS, so I wanna check it out.

MAS ZERO fare return ticket KK-KL-KK is RM240; 0 + 240 of taxes and fuel surcharge (maybe??? MAS only classify as tax). Meanwhile on AIRASIA, return ticket KK-KL-KK is RM221; 39 (seat) + 6 (airport tax) + 22.50 (admin fee) + 43 (fuel surcharge). So technically, AIR ASIA is right, they are the cheapest airlines. (Both prices for 1/11 and return 8/11)

Let me compare the two airlines services so you can see what you get with that price. Before that, let me reminder you that I’m not a frequent traveler, so my experience with an airline maybe not much, but I do travel between KK-TWU-KK around 3-4 times a year; mostly via AIR ASIA.

If you think you can get free food on board with MAS, you’re wrong! My friend’s husband fly with MAS recently and he said they are only serves sandwiches, which in reality should cost less than RM10. However, AIR ASIA sells their food at twice (maybe more) of the original price, so it depends on what you wanna eat. But AIR ASIA is very clever on charging their services, i.e. xpress boarding RM20, insurances RM12 and recently checked baggage RM5 or RM3 online for one bag (excluding excess baggage). If your math is good as mine, then the price between AIR ASIA and MAS is almost the same. (Of course you can skip the xpress boarding and insurance which make AIR ASIA the winner!)

AIR ASIA also claims that they have newer plane and spacious seat; well I disagreed with that! I was on their new Airbus once, from KK-KL in 2006 (after delayed for about an hour) and the seat is not ‘spacious’ as they claim it to be, in fact it still the same as their older plane. If you are big and tall person, it maybe not gonna be a pleasant journey for you. MAS planes is not much of a different in term of ‘spacious’ but it’s comfortable for big and tall person.

My friends complaint a lot on AIR ASIA stewardess make-up and appearances, but I care less about that, I just hope they can be more friendly and don’t talk too loud when chit chatting among themselves. In contrast, MAS staffs deserved the ‘best cabin crew’ awards (if I’m not mistaken, they won that a few years ago); their quality of services is the best even for domestic flight.

So, which one do you choose?? If you care less about comfort, then AIR ASIA is the best choice; it’s cheap!!! But if bring a lot of luggage (I mean A LOT!), with children and elderly person, cares about comfort and money is not an issue, then pick MAS. As for me, I hope the fight between MAS and AIR ASIA continues, coz we as consumer can get the benefit of low fare and more choices!!!!

Car Accident...AGAIN!!!

I had an accident…AGAIN with my new car…ishk ishk ishk. When I drove Avanza, I was hit by a bus, nearly a month after I first got the car.

Now, it almost the same like 2 years ago, except this time a motorcycle that hit me (but actually it’s my fault even though my colleagues said it’s not, I’ve no time to argue). I just bought the car, it still smells new!!!

I just back from the workshop and it's gonna cost me around RM280. I paid RM315 for the motor that hit me, coz I'm nice...so I totally broke this month!!! But thank God no one got hurt, that all that matter, coz life can't be replace...

Pulau Tiga

Last weekend (5/4), my colleague and I were in Pulau Tiga visiting the famous survivor island. Here are some pixs from that trips (courtesy of evan, my colleague's cams).

Mud volcano bath... The MUST DO at Pulau Tiga. But it takes 1 hour 30 minutes to get there (jungle trekking), as we were staying at Borneo Survival Resort, not the Pulau Tiga Resort (it take 15 minutes from there).

Dinner!!! Again, with simple menu but soooooo damn delicious....

Do I look like a terrorist???

I was on the flight from Tawau to Kota Kinabalu, and this was during Chinese New Year break, like a month ago. The flight was not really full coz it was still Saturday and many people are planning to go back on Sunday. I was sitting alone on the 3th or 4^th row at back of the flight, I can’t really remember where but there are still people sitting behind me. Sitting 2 rows in front of me were this 3 ‘Mat Saleh’ people, Caucasian I think, maybe Aussie or American, can’t really tell. After we landed safely at Kota Kinabalu airport, I was like stretching my body and yawning big wide open while saying ‘Allahhuakbar’, which is a phrase that Muslims use to praise the One God, and I’ve been using it since high school to avoid saying stupid things like ‘oh pocot, mak kau’ or ‘shxx, motherfxxxker’. Living in majority Muslim country, most Sabahan or local passengers didn’t really care what I had just said. But the 3 westerners in front of me were immediately; I mean like in a second, turn their heads and look at me in shock. I also surprised seeing their pale white faces with an open mouth looking at me like I’m a criminal or doing something wrong here. Here I am, sitting alone near the rear window, wearing a simple hijab, t-shirt and jeans, and I just said ‘Allahhuakbar’…. Do I looked like a terrorist ??? I guess not, coz they were looking at each other after that and start laughing out loud. I still don’t get it and so do the rest of the passengers, but after putting all the pieces together I was like, oh…. They thought I was gonna blow up the plane…WHAT!!!

m-flo Award Supernove – Loves Best

m-flo loves me and I loves m-flo. This is the best album in 2008 I’ve heard so far. Well, actually it still February and I don’t listen to many albums and singles yet. I’m so selected in what I’m going to download coz I don’t wanna see a folder that I never put in winamp queue again, so I wanna try m-flo coz I super crazy with ‘Miss you’ song and I know they are good but never really seriously listening to their stuff. Boy I’m not wrong. Loves Best means all the best songs from their collaborations with other famous singers.

The beginning (track 1), chapter 5 (5), chapter 9 (7), ping (11) and infinity (15) are track that I don’t understand what is about coz they are either speaking Japanese or just music; kindda like intro to every part of the songs in the album. If I’m not mistaken, track 2 is the newest songs that they are created for the album (I’m not familiar with this band so I just guessing here) coz they have PV for this song. It’s an alright song at first but loving it after a while. I so into track 3, ‘miss you’. This is 2003 song, so kindda old but still loving it. The lyric is like talking to someone but you put music and melody in there and that make it so wonderful. The whole album can be played in the club and everybody can dances with it. That what I feel when listened to the entire album. It got a few slow tracks, but… DJ plays that music louder, onegai… Go here for download, it from JPOPnKPOP site. Jumper

I just watched Jumper last night and it’s really disappointed me. If you already watch it, I bet you brain full of question mark when you left the theater. I know maybe it’s a trend in Hollywood right now to make movies that have potential to do a sequel, but the first one is not even worth of watching, why the hell I wanna watch no. 2.

The opening narration of the movie for me is so lame. The Hero is one arrogant kid; even he said he’s not. I don’t think Hayden-I don’t know the last name (the guy from star wars) have a great voice that can charm me. I just hate the narration part, just go on with the story already, we all know what he can do, we can read the synopsis, da…. The flashback is unnecessary for me. I prefer if his live can be uncovered through out the movie, instead put the chessy childhood past in the beginning. His relationship with Millie (played by the ‘short’ girl from OC, sorry I don’t know her name) is so sudden; I mean he only find her when he is in trouble and they’ve been together for about a day (??? I also confused here).

I don’t understand the Paladin; Samuel L. Jackson with blonde hair??? Weird dude!!! Plus he’s the bad guy. If you wanna kill someone, at least tell us why. Why you kill them with that knife??? I know, only God can have this power, but some history will be great about the ‘EVIL JUMPER’ (if any??? and this should be in the beginning) that make them create an organization so they can kill the jumper. That’s make my point of sequel is crystal clear, don’t you think so? And the mommy stuff…when you wanna explained that, in JUMPER 2???

I still don’t get some of the term they used in the movie, like scars in Jamie Bell’s (yes, I’ve seen Billy Elliot, it's good!!!) neck and jump site (I got confused is it a permanent place like a point you can ‘jump’ or just the place you ‘jump’). Well, the ending is not settled (hint: no. 2???) and I’m not entertained watching this movie. Even if this is a bad movie, at least entertain us with your actions pack and special effect. The fight between Jamie and Hayden is so out of control, I can’t tell who’s who (maybe it just me).

I don’t know what else to say than just read the book (it apparently based on the sci-fi book back in 1990s). I read the synopsis in the wiki and it will be great if they just follow the book’s storyline (maybe, I just saying…). Please dear God, don’t you make another Jumper. Invest in something good, like Bourne 4??? Hahahaha…

Big Bang!

I know this band when their ‘reality show’ airing on MTV asia last year. I’ve never a fan of KPOP even though I watch a lot of Korean drama series and movies. The reality series is OK, but not enough to make me go crazy at them. At that time, they are already BIG in Korea and Asia. But when MTV asia put their hit single ‘Lies’ on the 100 best song of 2007 and aired their the music video (MV), my interests start to spark. I’m not a fan of boy band, especially KPOP boy band, but their new Big Bang – For The World English mini album (as part as their world ‘domination’ strategy) is honestly GOOD. This band start making headlines when they appears for the first time on Music Station last year. I'm so loving this band right now, but it's hard to get a copy of their music. Maybe you can search at yesasia.com, but its too costly for me. This song is called 'Crazy' from their lastest single 'Crazy' (well, not that new, as it is released late last year).

Anyway, just to slip in about The Amazing Race Asia 2 (TARA2), the finale was aired last week, and surprise surprise... the boys from Singapore is the winner! After most of the spoiler pointed the winner to Pam&Van, I feels a little bit disappointed but hey, as long as its not Marc&Ro. Nothing against them, it just they won most half of the leg (maybe more than that, I don't count) from TARA2, it nice someone else won for a change.... What I knew from TAR and TARA, stronger team (that usually won many legs) didn't win the race, ie Amber&Rob. The team that face many difficulties during the race, or always in 2nd, is usually the winner. I don't why, maybe is the 'karma' thing that they always talk about in TAR. Anyway, can't wait to TARA3...I just hope the teams this time will be from 'regular' people, if you know what I mean....

The BEST donut in KK!!!

My colleagues and friends are crazy about this new donut café located in City Mall, Kota Kinabalu (KK). BIG APPLE - DONUT and COFFEE – has it called, is located between Sate Mesra restaurant and Old Town White Coffee.

They have many variety of donut, from sweet chocolate to spicy chicken floss donut. The queue usually long as the popularity grew every day, so try go there early (best before lunch hour) if you don’t want to wait. I've only been there once and honestly its quit good, in fact I LOVE IT, it soft and tastier than other famous donut place (duh...dunkin donut) which not exist in KK. I've tried all the circle donut above, and all of them is great but my advise, don't combine too many sweet donut (blue circle - are too sweet for me) if you want to eat and try more (I can only eat 4 with empty stomach, heheheheh).

Driving left or right???

I never really pay attention on which side of the road people around the world are driving on, and I don’t care. But after watching both edition of The Amazing Race (US and Asia), I wonder why the Americans find it hard to drive on the left side meanwhile the Asian (as TARA teams) also face with the same difficulties when driving on the right side. So I turn to the most powerful tools mankind ever made, the INTERNET to search for the real truth and nothing but the truth that I will get so help me God.

To my surprise, 66% of world populations from 164 countries are driving on the right side of the road while the rest of the world drive on the left side. I always thought that we ALL drive on the left side except US coz US always different like elevator and lift, soccer and football or…I can’t think of other example - fyi I learnt British English and my teacher always reminds us the differences between US English and British’s English. It turn out that I suck at world history and geography (and I live in a country used to be part of the British Empire)!

The reason why there is left and right side is base on the history of the world. Before horses and cars, people walk on the left side as they are carrying weapon (swords) on the left side and can be ready during attack. When there are a lot of horses being use as transportation, most country still use left until Americans use heavier, bigger and multiple horses with no right driver seat. So, the driver use left seat and therefore drive at the right side coz of safety. For other country, the occupation during war influences the traffic law and the decision on left or right. Road border also part of the reason to switch, for example Canada use to be left side but switch to right coz their road connected with US.

British and its ex-colonial empire (except Canada and some African country) plus Japan, Indonesia, Macau, Thailand and US Virgin Islands are left side country. Coz Malaysia was once part of British Empire, so we are driving on the left side. That’s basically the reason why we are driving on the left side of the road.

My Best Pal - TDrama

I got lazy last week, that’s why I stop writing for a while.



I watch this TDrama called ‘My Best Pal’ (I don’t know the Chinese title coz I don’t know Chinese nor I understand it) staring Ming Dao and Qian En. If you watch ‘The Prince Who Turn into a Frog’ drama, then you’ll remember them as this that makes them famous. I don’t have any high expectation about this drama, coz there is no hype about it in the net, but I gotta see this because of Ming Dao (he’s gorgeous ladies!!!). However, my prediction was right; this drama is a waste of my money!! Even Ming Dao can’t save it. But if you too lazy to click the link, then you have to read my unpleasant, poor English (I’m suck at grammar) and worst written review you’ve ever read.

‘My best Pal’ is about 4 bestfriends who grow up together in the same neighborhood and good with fighting skills. They are seniors at High School who’s dealing with bullied, groupies and love (ah…..), like any normal students, except it look like OVER THE TOP when it’s dramatized which is always the case with Taiwan drama (they called it ‘idol’ drama). I’m not gonna give you the complete detail of the story, just a few of my ‘words’, coz I, myself didn’t get to finish it, but I will in a few days (I have to, I pay for it!!!). The big bully is Dinosaur (don’t know if it the real name or the nick, I just follow the translation) who actually is son of ‘stupid’ senator who is hated by everyone (which is supposed to be impossible for him to be elected as senator). He is big, I mean BIG, that fits perfectly into the bully role, but scared to death with Summer (the girl in the group, 3 + 1, she is the 1, the one girl) and the other 3 guyz which is Ah Jiang, Fang Wei and Bulu, coz apparently the big bully can’t fight (what??? how come he become the bully, or he’s been bullied by them….ehm….). Make things short, the big bully want the fantastic 4 (coz they are 4, minus the super power) to be drop out of school so he can control (without scared) of the entire school. While this happen, Summer dad’s gun (he is a cop) is missing and the fan4 wants to play detective and helps to find it. Meanwhile, Fang Wei is in love with Summer, but Summer is in love with Ah Jiang and the principle’s daughter (forgot the name) is in love with Ah Jiang, but Ah Jiang unsure about his own feeling. But finally Ah Jiang realized he’s loves Summer. While he’s waiting for the ‘right’ time to tell her, the fugitive prisoner hides in the haunted building in the school. Coz I keep fastforward the disk, I don’t know exactly what happen, but the fugitive take Summer hostage and Ah Jing got shot while trying to save her. Ah Jiang life is in great danger, but this is a TV series and Ming Dao is the lead, there is no way he’s gonna die. So, Ah Jiang lives, but there is a new character that will be involved between Summer and Ah Jiang. This guy is an old childhood crush of Summer, who is living with Summer’s family after his parents died during a shooting that involved Summer’s dad. He is now a detective, handsome and rich man. I don’t know what’s come after that coz I stop watching it (for a while). But I can predict what happened; Ah Jiang and Summer fights for a while coz you can’t just make it happily ever after for the rest of the series (it’s not the way of making TV series, fight first and then make up), a detective acts as the third person in Ah Jiang and Summer relationship, all the bad guyz finally caught and go to hell (or whatever, but MUST something bad happen to them) and in the end, the detective will WILLINGLY let Summer go to Ah Jiang. THE END!

Water Oh Water...

I forgot what’s good on Friday and weekend’s TV. The WATER situation is bad over the weekend. I live in Beverly, KK, where water disruption is so common that you hope the Jabatan Air Sabah already fix whatever problem that arise during the last water disruption (which is always about empty tank-as JAS said). I guess there are not done so. It’s a very frustrated weekend as I have to travel back and fort to my friend house which is still the same neighborhood as mine (but different phase) so I can bath and wash my 1 week of cloths. Alhamdulillah, as Saturday night the water start running, but it stop for a while last night and it continue ‘till ….I don’t know about today, I keep my fingers cross.

The Amazing Race Asia 2 ep 9

The Amazing Race Asia is full of drama last night. Even though I love Pam & Van but they are making the wrong decision working with the moms on the intersection. We see the result of that, they got lost and have to switch detour. Poor Pat & Nat, waiting for Terri & Henry for 5 hours! But if I was on the Pam & Van shoes, maybe I do the same decision coz you just wanna go go go during the race. Van seems like got a concussion after the roadblock. It’s scary to see her confuse of what they’ve been doing and asking questions that she suppose to know. Pam is great handling the situation even though she also scared but not panic, which is good in order to stay focus on the race. The impact of the water is tremendously hard, Van’s lip is bleeding, Nats also bleed (nose or lip) and I think the singaporean guys also got hurt in the chest. All of them had their body lean forward during the jump and I think that’s the reason they got hurt. Thank God all safe and well in the end…and the SAME!!! Marc & Rovilson still no.1, again….the Singaporean boyz is no.2, AGAIN….and Terri & Henry is last, again and this time after 3rd time in the row in last place they finally got eliminated…for GOOD…..

Next week I ‘wish’ Marc & Rovilson got eliminated (which seems ‘impossible’) or didn’t get first again......besides their joke is not funny at all........

TV on Wednesday

I though Wednesday gonna be bored but boy, I was wrong. I’ve been watching The King of Brain on KBS world for quit some time now, but never really pay attention what time it actually air coz I constantly playing with the astro’s remote info button trying to find what to watch next even though the show I currently watching not even finish yet. I know… it’s just one of my many bad habits but anyway… King of Brain is the BEST show from yesterday line up. It’s got humor, the brilliant and brain wrecking test, the cool and funny MCs and their celebrity guesses, and you can join and test your brain!! The show divided into 3 round, 1st round is to determine the participant brain age, i.e. in the 20s, 30s and so on. The test maybe changes through out the show (I guess coz I’ve seen different test before) and yesterday test are analyze (which 4 of the penguins jump the most), math (find the right formula to the answer) and spatial (which character has been hit the most by the snowball). All participants must answers correctly to move on to the next round, if 1 person got it wrong, all of them have to receive the punishment (which is knock to the head by a moving ball) and up the age (30s, 40s…) test. 2nd round is individual test and the hardest. Last nigh epi is more to spatial test, which is finding the different between 2 animations, reconstruct the bad guy face and finding the different of a still picture that change ‘something’ while we are looking at it. My eyes glue in front of the TV trying to spot the different and laugh at the same time as the participants constantly making joke of each other and their answers.3rd round is for the winner of the 2nd round. He/she have to clear 21 or 22 level to win and get the golden brain. This is just like any asian type-like variety show (which I love coz it super funny but rarely get sub), but the best thing about King of Brain is you can exercise your brain and have fun at the same time. Since KBS world start airing on astro, I’ve seen many interesting show that knowledgeable but fun to watch…like Sponge (Saturday night maybe) and Vitamin (Sunday???). I also like the Golden Bell; quizzes type-show for students all over Korea to compete to find the brightest student and who can ring the golden bell. The questions are very very very tough (for me la…). I wish Malaysia have our own Golden Bell….don’t you think so????

What else on Wednesday…I watch ‘Pretty Insun’, Oprah and I slept during ‘Air City’ coz I’m tired and NO WATER in my neighborhood (I live in Beverly, penampang btw…)!!!
